My cat died today, not that I care.
Just flesh and bones, tissue warm no more.
No rain outside today; should I care?
For bones and sinews? Weep no more.

No tears strike my face,
For a flower born and withered tomorrow.
A soul gone from this place,
From a creature forlorn--my heart is dead.

As I sing this song,
A cartoon comes on.
Singing right along.
Accompanied by drums.

He lays down dead and cold.
Beloved creature had his fun and now is done.
A stark contrast of pleasure and agony
Delicately resounded a bittersweet symphony.

And with harsh trumpets I see,
Is my cat a metaphor for me?
